Copycat “Panda Express” Orange Chicken

Inspired by one of all our favourite places... PANDA!

Ingredients:

Chicken ——
  • 1 pack of chicken tenderloins

  • 1/3 cup AP flour (I use King Arthur GF)

  • 1/3 cup bread crumbs (I use GF)

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, garlic powder

Sauce ——
  • 8 ounces pure (no pulp) orange juice

  • 2.5 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon corn starch + 1/2 cup water (to make a slurry)

  • 3-4 tablespoons soy sauce (to taste)

  • salt, pepper, garlic powder (to taste)

This recipe was one that I actually gained inspiration from while looking for a cleaner option. I saw a “copycat” Panda Express chicken recipe on another page and wanted to kind of revamp it as my own!

These copycat recipes usually are all semi-similar with various changes in each. I personally like mine a little bit more “orangy” lol!

So therefore with these recipes I do like to put (to taste) on there because it is your food at the end of the day!

*** This recipe can be GF with substitutions.

Directions:

  • Begin to cube all of the chicken tenderloins into pieces. Once those are cubed separate the flour, cornstarch and spices in one bowl. Then the bread crumbs and eggs in two separate as well.

  • Take the chicken and go through flour, then egg and then bread crumbs. Bake on 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

  • In a low-medium heated saucepan combine orange juice, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce and spices. Stir for a few seconds to combine. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until it thickens.

    (DO NOT let it burn!)
